Shutdown/reboot taking >10 minutes after 1 standby
HI guys, I have some issues with an old N800C Compaq Laptop & W7. Goign to standby will work, but when resuming keyboard/touchpad won't answer. Using external USB Keyboar/mouse is still working tough. But now, when rebooting or shutting down, after such a standby session, will result in 10-12 minutes delay between the Event (taken from event log): 18:43:49 Event 13 kernel-General: The operating system is shutting down at system time ?2009?-?10?-?05T16:43:49.609774400Z. 18:55:05 Event 13 kernel-General: The operating system started at system time ?2009?-?10?-?05T16:55:05.500000000Z. What is happening in between to create such a delay? Thanks ! Christophe

Hi Christophe, Mostly, this issue is caused by a software/driver conflict issue. You can do a Clean Boot test and disable device one by one on Device Manager to test the issue. Hope it helps.

Thanks Robinson, I will try that. I'm running a clean install of W7 with drivers from Windows 7. Nothing connected to the laptop. tx

So long boot time is caused trouble with prefetch or with any drivers,or any external network drives Stop & disable Superfetch service, and empty C:\Windows\Prefetch folder, next run cmd.exe with administrative previlliges and type: Rundll32.exe advapi32.dll,ProcessIdleTasks +restart If no help unplug all network drives (if you have of course) if it also no help use Windows Perforformace Analysis Tool to diagnose problem Windows Performance Analysis Tools during diagnosing the source of problem you have to estimate drivers Here you have easy guide how it use Speed up boot time in Windows Vista using Windows Performance Toolkit

I think after that period of time trying to close down, it even might generate a blue screen ... (I have to check disabling auto reboot on blue screen, where do yo udo that again?) thx

The BSOD is related to driver_power_state_failure?. I will extract the minidumps later. Probably display driver anhyhow, but there are no newer ones :(
